Name: Reyson Door: Dominant via January's TDM requirements Canon: Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance Canon Point: End of game Age: 97 -- Laguz have longer lifespans than Humans (or Beorcs as they are called on Tellius), and Laguz of the Heron tribe can live to be 1000 years old. Developmentally, he acts like a young man in his early 20s. Appearance: How Reyson appears in Fire Emblem Heroes History: Link to the Wiki Personality: As a result of residing within the Hawk Kingdom of Phoenicis for the last two decades, Reyson has picked up many traits that are counterpoint to what is considered traditional for the Heron tribes that lived in the quiet peace of the Serenes Forest. Where his siblings are calm and serene, Reyson is stubborn, short tempered, and headstrong, and more than willing to resort to violence when he sees it as being necessary. His lineage is questioned multiple times because of this and, even though the aura of the battlefield makes him physically ill, he is more than willing to sacrifice his own well being for the sake of what was initially vengeance for the fate of his family, but then finally ending the Mad King's War for the greater good of Tellius. Upon first meeting Reyson, he is understandably angry and disgusted with the Beorc race in general for the Serenes massacre carried out by the Kingdom of Begnion. His anger pushed him to the brink of despair, where he was willing to use a forbidden magic and potentially destroy himself for the sake of destroying all of humanity-- but it was finding his younger sister, Leanne, alive after twenty long years and meeting Ike that pulled him back from the edge. It is only upon his sister's insistence that he finds it within himself to forgive the Apostle Sanaki for the acts of her predecessor, and only because of Ike's personality that he is able to come to appreciate Beorcs for what they are. Besides these traits, Reyson also continually strives to become stronger than he is under the mistaken belief that this may have helped prevent his family's fate. He expresses a desire to have a 'big body' and 'strong wings' like Tibarn, the Hawk King, and he even pushes himself to the point of near death by trying to eat meat under the belief that this will help him become stronger. He does realize that he has strength of mind and spirit in spades, for a weaker soul would not have lasted as long as he has under these circumstances, but he also believes that spiritual strength isn't enough in the battlefield. When it's insisted upon that he have a bodyguard accompany him in battle, he stubbornly refuses-- and then proceeds to find a way to save the life of the one who made this suggestion with his strength of will alone. His anger over being betrayed by Naesala and sold to Duke Tanas led him to punch the Duke in the nose. It broke his hand to do so, but-- as he informs Ike later on, it felt good to do it. Unlike his siblings, Reyson is associated with the passion's fiery flames. His iron will is indomitable, and he is more than willing to break every bond and surmount every obstacle to see his goals through to the end. As a Laguz of the Heron tribe, but heavily influenced by the Hawk tribe of Phoenicis because of his time spent under Tibarn's care, Reyson acts in many ways as if he were one of the Hawks despite the odd gravitas he carries himself with at times. Around other Laguz he tries to act bigger and stronger than he actually is, and he actually adopts rougher forms of speech as a means of trying to convey this. He doesn't make friends easily, and often causes Janaff and Ulki to go chasing after him because of his headstrong ways. Additionally, his previous friendship with Naesala in his youth led him to be blinded to Naesala's treachery too late, resulting him him being brought to Duke Tanas and sparking the events that unfolded afterward. At the assembly of Laguz kings he is impetuous, and needs to be reminded that acting out of vengeance would spark cycle of hatred. Comparatively, toward his family Reyson is the loving and devoted older brother to Leanne who is willing to protect his innocent sister from any and all danger, and he is the dedicated son who stayed by the side of his ailing father for many long years after the massacre of his family and his people. With his family separated and many lost, Reyson cherishes the scraps of family he has left and even in many ways sees the other Laguz he has met from the Bird Tribes as an extended part of it. Naesala, for all of his treachery, was one of his companions in his youth whom he trusted enough to not see any greater ambitions. Tibarn is in many ways the mentor figure that he needed as his guide. As a note, when he later finds his elder brother Rafiel during the events of Radiant Dawn, he takes care to use softer forms of speech so as to not scare his elder brother. In many ways, Rafiel is just as innocent as Leanne and just as much in need of protecting in Reyson's mind. Regarding his interactions with the Beorc after meeting with Ike, he tries to treat them similarly to how he treats his fellow Laguz. That being, he acts tougher than he is and eschews aid from Tanith-- all the while expressing irritable bewilderment over Tormod's suggestion of turning the desert he hailed from into a fertile landscape. He still defines himself as separate from the Beorc-- obvious when he makes commentary about Beorc children being so restless, but he no longer uses the word 'Human' for them. While the Beorcs call themselves Human, to a Laguz that word is as much a slur as 'Sub-Human' is when referring to a Laguz. Of note in his conversation with Tormod as well is his offer to allow Tormod's band of refugees to take sanctuary in the Serenes Forest once the war was over, so long as they adhered to the ancient rules of the forest regarding the consumption of meat-- as Herons are biologically vegetarians who are unable to eat meat without falling physically ill. Despite all of this, he insists on just being called by his name without any titles or honorifics-- as if he were trying to interact with the Greil Mercenaries as an equal rather than as the Third Prince of Serenes. Because, in many ways, that's how he wants to see himself. And it's a chance that he is willing to take, even if it's only for a short while. Positive Trait: Egalitarian. Reyson, by all accounts, isn't one to play favorites with anyone besides his dear family and sees everyone as working on a level playing field. All he ever asks for-- repeatedly, and stubbornly-- is that he be treated the same way. Negative Traits: Headstrong, Impulsive, Quick-Tempered. These all are traits that meshed together and came to the forefront after the massacre of his people by the Begnion forces 20 years before the start of the story, both as a reaction to his sense of helplessness and grief over his people and his family in the aftermath and how he absorbed the influences of the Hawks of Pheonicis during his time under Tibarn's care. Powers and Abilities: As a Laguz, Reyson is granted with the ability to shift between his human-like form and his beast form like all of his brethren. In this particular case, Reyson's beast form takes the shape of a large white heron. Despite his combative demeanor, Reyson is far from being a viable combat unit in terms of gameplay and, instead-- in classic Fire Emblem style-- he is one of the rare archetypes that allow other soldiers on the battlefield to take an extra turn through the use of his chants and songs, called Galdrs in Tellius. In terms of RP, this can be described as how a person can feel more energized and invigorated after listening to a particularly emphatic or emotional performance-- energized enough to do the work of two people! Furthermore, it's heavily implied that Reyson has an empathic sensitivity to his surroundings-- war and violence make him physically ill, and succumbing to his anger puts him at risk of losing the core of his very being-- the serenity that allows him to access the ancient Seid magic of the Herons. He has a moderate healing ability with his Galdrs as well, but he is unable to use this on himself if he is hurt. With his sister Leanne alongside of him singing the Galdr of Rebirth, the two Serenes royals were able to revive the dying Serenes forest-- but this is a one time accomplishment that he was only able to complete with his sister alongside of him. Similarly, Leanne and Reyson's work with the Galdr of Rebirth was able to restore the mind of the ancient dragon Rajaion after it had been distorted through experimental magic-- allowing the dragon some reprieve in his final moments. Once agaln, as Reyson's powers as a Heron have weakened due to his time with the Hawk clans, he is limited in what he is able to accomplish but he is very versatile in what he can do compared to his siblings. He's also multilingual in context with Tellius, able to speak both the ancient language of the Galdrs and the modern language with equal ease.
